Do you love to fish and kayak? Many people choose to combine these two activities in one outing, and doing so remains easy. With countless places to kayak across the nation, they are sure to find one or more places where they can get out on the water and reel in one or more species. For those who live in Florida, there are several opportunities to do so, and the following three locations are great places to start.

Indian River Lagoon

When it comes to the Best 25 Kayak Fishing Locations, Floridians need to look no further than Indian River Lagoon. This shallow-water estuary has earned an excellent reputation for its uniqueness in terms of biological diversity. It accounts for 40 percent of the state's east coast and brings over $7.6 billion to Florida's economy each year. Although it can be accessed by countless locations along the coast, many people choose to start their adventure at Indian River Lagoon Preserve State Park, home to the watershed of the lagoon. There is no fee to enter the park but call ahead. It is currently undergoing restoration and facilities are limited at this time. This ensures you don't encounter any problems while at the state park.

Timucuan National Preserve

If you dream of seeing an unspoiled Atlantic Coast wetland, plan a trip to Timucuan National Preserve. Here you can explore 6,000 years of history and take in the beauty of the hardwood hammocks, coastal dunes, and salt marshes as you spend time on the water fishing. Once you see all this preserve has to offer in addition to kayaking and fishing, you'll want to plan multiple return trips. For example, it is home to American Beach, a beach founded for African American use during segregation. This is only one attraction that draws people in, and there are countless other reasons to plan your visit today.

Pompano Beach

Known as "Florida's Warmest Welcome", Pompano Beach lies at the heart of the state's Gold Coast. The warm and clear waters make it ideal for kayaking and fishing, and people can relax and enjoy the sandy beaches and calming breezes when they return to shore. Named for the Pompano, a game fish found in its waters, Pompano Beach offers areas for kids to play, adults to exercise, and friends to gather. Try your hand at paddleboarding or spend some time on the golf course. With so much to see and do in the area, people find they come to kayak and fish and end up spending a great deal of their time checking out the many other activities open to them.

Thanks to its approximately 1,200 miles of coastline, Florida offers ample opportunities for people to kayak and fish. The location you choose remains a matter of personal preference. However, as seen from the three sites listed above, the state has plenty to keep people busy. Plan your next adventure based on where you want to fish, what you want to catch, and what you wish to do with your free time. Regardless of which location you select, you are guaranteed to have a great time out on the water or on land.
