California medical marijuana laws and history of cannabis in California (CA) according to the new regulations of the Act of 1996 (HSC) are not an easy read. Part 1 of the HSC outlines the distribution and retail sale of medicinal marijuana, with specific provisions for medical patients and growers. Part 2 of the HSC details rules governing the handling and production of cannabis and marijuana plants for adult use, including restrictions on advertising, marketing, and cultivating. The final part of the HSC includes regulations regarding licensed medical marijuana suppliers, including detailed instructions on how to qualify for a license from the California Medical Marijuana dispensary Association (MMA). Medical cannabis users, suppliers, pharmacies, and providers should study each provision carefully before applying for a card.

Medical cannabis users, suppliers, and processors need two years of continuous residence in California to apply for a card. To get a medical marijuana card in California, you need to have been continuously residence in the state for six months, a resident of the city or county for three years, or the country for fourteen days. All others may still apply but their chances of success are slim. If you are a qualified provider of medicinal marijuana use, you may also be able to grow your own medicine, so long as you have not imported the cannabis from another state.

After submitting all the necessary paperwork, the next step is to submit a completed application form, along with the completed application fee to the bureau. Although you can use the Internet to submit your information, submitting it by mail will ensure that it gets properly logged and processed before Christmas. If you are submitting by fax, make sure you enclose a complete and accurate fax copy of your recommendation letter. You will also need to provide proof of residency, including a current, up-to-date card from the California Bureau of Health Services. Be sure to include any recommendation letters you have sent out via mail, including the address where they can be mailed to.

After sending in all the necessary documentation, your request will be directed to an administrative hearing officer who will decide if your application has met all the requirements. If your application is accepted, you will receive a temporary California medical marijuana card and a number to call on your card. At this point, you can begin registering your name with your chosen dispensaries. As each facility adds clients, they will no longer be allowed to process your recommendation letters.

Not all clinics are created equal. Some are more reputable than others and offer better rates, supplies, and personalized service than others. When choosing which California medical card online provider you want to use, choose one that accepts most major credit cards and debit cards. Some California medical marijuana card online providers only accept one or a handful of the top credit cards because they are not the large players in the industry.

After you have received your California medical marijuana card, be sure to visit all your chosen dispensaries to collect your medication and read all the rules and regulations regarding their use. Although many pharmacies offer convenient service, you should visit all your California dispensaries before making your final selection. While it may seem like common sense, your safety and your health should never be overlooked.
