Creating a New Project in NoodleTools:

From the Projects page, click the Create a New Project button on the top right:

You will have options to:

1. Give your project a title. You can give your project whatever title you like - something that makes it clear what assignment or class it goes with is a good choice.

2. Create a citation list in MLA or APA style - choose whichever style is requested by your instructor or best fits your assignment.

If you are not sure which style to select for this online tutorial, we suggest starting with MLA style.

(You can choose "Chicago/Turabian" style if your instructor requests it - it's just another citation style - but for this tutorial, we recommend using MLA or APA.)

3. Choose the list level. We recommend always choosing the Advanced citation level.

(Why the "Advanced" citation level? The other options are for elementary/middle school students and will not give you the source options (like videos or articles from online databases) that you need for college-level citations.)

4. Hit the "Submit" button to create your new citation project.

The Project Dashboard and Citation List

Once you create your project, you can click on the title to open the project Dashboard. Most items will be blank-- there are a lot of items you can keep track of here related to your research project-- but in this tutorial, we'll be using the citation lists.

As you add sources to your NoodleTools project they will populate into your project's dashboard.

If you haven't done so yet, please create a new project for this tutorial in NoodleTools. You can name it what you like.
